The works include: a second Mastercrete plastic packing line, upgraded weighbridges and the extension of their packed products warehouse. The location of the loading points for packed product lorries has been changed to ensure better segregation between these and the bulk lorries, easing the flow of vehicles through the site.
Works manager Nicolas Maes says that the development will enable the site to play a bigger role in satisfying demands of the construction market in the Midlands and south east. " Our target is to produce up to one million tonnes of cement each year - two thirds for bulk markets and one third for packed product customers."
The next project will see the installation of a £1.6m blending station for pulverized fuel ash (PFA) which will be recycled and blended into Cem II Blue Circle Cement.
