Cemex raises Mexico cement prices by 8%
(MONTERREY, Mexico) - Mexico's Cemex (CMXCPO.MX), the world's No. 3 cement maker, is raising the average price of its cements in Mexico by 8 percent, a company source said on Thursday.
Cemex is raising its Mexican prices as from Thursday Oct. 16 to compensate for higher energy costs, the source said. The company said earlier on Thursday it would lay off 10 percent of its workers in a bid to cut costs as its revenues slide because of the U.S. housing crisis.
